So far, we have had great success with the Crucial 128GB DDR5 SODIMM kit. This kit has two 64GB SODIMMs which for the first time in many years, is allowing access to 128GB in mini PCs that typically come with two SODIMM slots.
The Crucial 128GB DDR5-5600 SODIMM Kit We Are Using in Mini PCs
The kit comes with two SODIMMs and is the Crucial CT64G56C46S5.

Here is the front of one of the SODIMMs where we can see that this is a 64GB model running at DDR5-5600 speeds.

Here is the back of the module:

We installed it in systems like the Lenovo ThinkCentre M75q Tiny Gen5, and the Acemagic F3A with the AMD Ryzen AI 370 HX, and an upcoming Intel platform and it worked just as a few examples.

There you can see that this is running at the DDR5-5600 speeds. This did not require any modifications. Still, for older systems, you might require a BIOS update. We went through this as well with the 48GB SODIMMs in the 96GB kit.
You can see this running in our recent video below:
We are going to have these featured in several systems over the next few months.
Final Words
When we worked on getting 96GB we commonly used the 96GB DDR5-5600 SODIMM Crucial 2x 48GB Kit. We had great success with that kit, and it worked in many systems. At the same time, that left us with “only” 96GB even as core counts have greatly increased over the years. Now, we can get 128GB. That is a game-changer for these small systems because now they can hit relatively high memory capacities. We are also able to do things like run 70B parameter LLMs along with other desktop applications with that much memory. For those with virtualization servers, 128GB lets you have 8 core/ 16 thread processors and 16GB/ core.
Where to Buy
We purchased our first few kits on Amazon. Here is an Affiliate Link.
Needs an unbuffered ECC version at a tolerable price for Ryzens. At least for full-size DIMMs if not SODIMMs.
You don’t want the latency of ecc.
Margins on these new dimms are fantastic.
On-die ecc is good enough for keeping the arrays themselves clean.
Can you include a few more popular models of mini PCs that this works in?
For example, does this work in the MS-01?
Do you have a Minisforum MS-01 sitting around you could test it in? :)
If you need 128GB the tiny latency for ECC isn’t a concern compared to data integrity.
I just got mine today and my gmktec m7 pro absolutely loves this ram..
I just wish I could get specific information on what the motherboard is other than “proprietary” from them…
