The current WHS is <2.5TB from being full, which means it will be full in 3-4 months. I just ordered more drives, a Norco RPC-4020 (20 drive bays), and an Asus P6T7 WS Supercomputer motherboard for the next build. Stay tuned!
Here's a quick update to the Patriot PS-100 32GB review including Raid 0 benchmarks with two drives.

Update 6 June 2010: New Patriot PS-100 32GB Firmware v3.000 benchmarks are up (single drive).

A 32GB SSD drive for $60 after MiR sounded like a good idea, especially since that would be great for a Windows Home Server C: drive, so I purchased a Patriot PS-100 32GB. (It should be noted that I have not seen the price for $60 again in the following 3 months) 64MB of cache sounded better than a...
Updated the SSD Drive and Controller List with: OCZ m84 LSI and Indilinx controllers; Crucial M225 64GB, 128GB, 256GB drives
Just as a note to anyone running multiple large disks in Raid 6 for Windows Home Server. I was setting up new Raid 6 arrays on the WHS this weekend, controlled by an Adaptec 31605 and was greeted by a nice error message. WHS is limited to four volumes per physical drive using basic discs. A quick search of...

Updated the SSD Drive and Controller List with: OCZ m84, p84, Solid V2, and SuperTalent RaidDrive Series
SSD's are becoming more commonplace and are available from a multitude of vendors. Despite a high level of vendor diversity for the drives themselves, there are only a few SSD controller options available, and the vendors do not necessarily list which controller a given drive has. In an effort to simplify the research process, the following list will be...
Microsoft Windows Home Server allows for multiple user accounts, and each user account can be set up with different permissions to various folders. This can be an invaluable tool to restrict access to documents and folders on a WHS. First the list from least to most access is:
None - The user cannot view or otherwise modify files in the...
Question: How does a OCZ Vertex 120GB compare to an 8 drive 15k RPM 2.5" SAS Raid 5 array with a fast Adaptec 5805 controller?
Answer: It is slower... kind of... but both options have some great features!
So at this point, what can a lone Indilinx based OCZ Vertex do?
As one can tell, the OCZ Vertex gets handily destroyed in...
