NVIDIA Quadro P2200 Rendering Related Benchmarks
Next, we wanted to get a sense of the rendering performance of the NVIDIA Quadro P2200.
Arion v2.5
Arion Benchmark is a standalone render benchmark based on the commercially available Arion render software from RandomControl. The benchmark is GPU-accelerated using NVIDIA CUDA. However, it is unique in that it can run on both NVIDIA GPUs and CPUs.
Download the Arion Benchmark from here. First-time users will have to register to download the benchmark.
Under heavier loads, the NVIDIA Quadro P2200 performance is close to the GTX 1650 OC, rendering applications are not the strong point of the Quadro P2200 but does provide a solution for less demanding uses.
MAXON Cinema4D 3D
ProRender is an OpenCL based GPU renderer which is available in MAXON’s Cinema4D 3D animation software. A fully functional 42-day trial version is available for downloaded from the MAXON website here. Note: Even after expiration, the trial can still be used to measure render times.
We see almost a 3x performance difference between the Quadro P2200 and Quadro P620 in this benchmark, which is enormous in rendering times. The Quadro P2200 is still not entirely up to a GTX 1650 OC, though.
Redshift v2.6.32
Redshift is a GPU-accelerated renderer with production-quality. A Demo version of this benchmark can be found here.
The Quadro P620 could not run Redshift. However, the Quadro P2200 outperforms the GTX 1650 OC by 300 seconds.
Next, we will have 3DMark results before moving onto power consumption, thermals, and our final thoughts.
Wouldn’t a better test have been to include the Quadro P2000, which this seems to be an iteration of ?
Evan – we did not have a Quadro P2000 and frankly, I did not want to go to older parts.
One important use case of these 75W cards is transcoding media from one format to another. It is the cheapest Nvidia card that can transcode media without artificial limitation to two streams.
I have both P2000 and P2200… the difference in performance is ~5-10% depending on benchmark.
But it’s a moot point… since the P2000 and P2200 cost the same and have the exact same feature set and power/thermal budget everyone should just buy the P2200.
Many of the customers are just using it for video transcoding anyway.
The P2000 is also no longer coming off the production line.
