Netgear Arlo Security Light Thrusts the Company Deeper into the Security Spotlight

Netgear’s Arlo camera line has been a hit for the company. It now has an entire range of cameras from outdoor weather resistant WiFi variants to indoor cameras molded after a bunny rabbit for baby monitoring. While the Arlo IP camera line has night vision, another common security product is motion activated lights. Here the new Netgear Arlo Outdoor Smart Home Security Light family is ready to service this need. The Arlo Security Light is a 100% wire-free, smart-controlled, weather-resistant and customizable LED light that illuminates the dark areas around a property and provides alerts via the mobile app when motion is detected.

How do you make a motion activated light, a product that has been around in concept for decades, exciting? You make it a “smart” device. The Arlo Security Light can, for example, have a white floodlight via its LEDs for exterior lighting but then flash red light when it detects motion. That is the beauty of LEDs.

As with any smart home device these days, you can control the light with your Arlo app for easy setup and access. You can schedule the light to turn on and off automatically without having to use an additional timer device. When motion is sensed, you can get e-mail alerts that activity has been detected.
