Lexar NM800 Pro 2TB Performance Testing
We test using both the default smaller test size as well as larger test sets on our benchmarks. This allows us to see the difference between lighter and heavier workloads.
CrystalDiskMark x64
CrystalDiskMark is used as a basic starting point for benchmarks as it is something commonly run by end-users as a sanity check.
Out of the gate, the Lexar NM800 Pro 2TB does not quite hit its rated sequential read performance, falling short by around 700 MB/s. Sequential write performance, on the other hand, exceeds specification by a bit more than 100 MB/s. Compared to the rest of the drives on my chart, the NM800 Pro is definitely in the ballpark of other great PCIe Gen 4 drives.
Now there is something I like to see! The larger CrystalDiskMark test allows the NM800 Pro to stretch its legs a bit, and now it matches its rated specs. In addition, the NM800 Pro is now jockeying for position at the top of my performance chart, which is territory I assure you the NM620 never found itself in.
ATTO Disk Benchmark
The ATTO Disk Benchmark has been a staple of drive sequential performance testing for years. ATTO was tested at both 256MB and 8GB file sizes.
Top of the chart! The NM800 Pro proves itself the fastest drive I have ever tested in ATTO read speed. Write speeds are also almost as fast and only barely get nudged out of the top position by the Rocket 4 Plus.
On the larger ATTO test, the NM800 Pro continues its read speed dominance and still medals on write speed.
Anvil’s Storage Utilities
Anvil’s Storage Utilities is a comprehensive benchmark that gives us a very in-depth look at the performance of the drives tested. This benchmark was run with both a 1GB and 8GB test size.
In Anvil, the Lexar NM800 Pro 2TB comes slightly back down to Earth from its ATTO results. Everything here is still good, but it is no longer at the actual top of the chart. Both read and write scores are good, with a resulting score similar to the HP FX900 Pro.
The good results for the NM800 Pro continue in the larger Anvil test. Third place on my chart for read score, fourth place for write score.
AS SSD Benchmark
AS SSD Benchmark is another good benchmark for testing SSDs. We run all three tests for our series. Like other utilities, it was run with both the default 1GB as well as a larger 10GB test set.
AS SSD is another good but not chart-topping performance for the Lexar NM800 Pro. Drives like the XG8 and Platinum P41 are good company to keep for the NM800 Pro.
The larger AS SSD test once again shows the NM800 Pro doing well. If you look really closely, you can find the NM620 results on this chart. It has been included just to show how gigantic an improvement the NM800 Pro is compared to that drive.
SPECworkstation, thermals, and our conclusion are up next.
A
Great SSD. I want it in my developers PC.
Thank You for cool review!
