Gigabyte made a motherboard that will appeal to many STH readers. The new Gigabyte GA-6PXSVT combines a single LGA2011 socket with a single SFP+ port Intel 82599EN controller, up to 14x hard drives and USB 3.0.
One can see that there are three PCIe x16 slots onboard for expansion. The multitude of hard drive ports (14) on the Gigabyte GA-6PXSVT means it can make for a fairly expandable platform.
The networking side is perhaps the most interesting. There are two gigabit Ethernet LAN ports along with one SFP+ 10GbE port. The SFP+ port is an excellent feature as SFP+ has been prevalent in 10GbE deployments due to its flexibility and low latency characteristics.
Gigabyte also includes four rear panel USB 3.0 ports. These ports give extra storage and expansion options which makes for an overall strong platform.
