Davuaz Da-K9801W Management
This is an unmanaged switch. We could not find a management interface. For a switch in this price range, perhaps that is exactly what folks want.
Davuaz Da-K9801W Performance
In terms of performance, this seems to be a decent, but not top-tier performer.
Again, for a sub $90 switch this is not bad. It is also virtually identical to others we have tested with this chipset combination.
Davuaz Da-K9801W Power Consumption
Power adapters are always an interesting point. This comes with a few markings but we do not see things like FCC or CE markings. That is pretty common for this class of switch. It is only a 12V 1A power adapter, so we know this is going to be a low-power device.
At idle, we got around 2.3W at idle with nothing attached.
With a single 2.5GbE port plugged in, we added 0.7W for 3.0W total.
We used a 10Gbase-T SFP+ pluggable to add a good amount of power consumption in a SFP+ port and we got 3.7W for 1.4W over our baseline.
As with other low-power switches, we tried powering this over PoE using a splitter, and it worked. While this does not have PoE-in, a cheap splitter got us the power we needed to the switch just given it is such a low-power device. Perhaps that is not the best idea, but it worked for the “PoE everything” crowd.
Final Words
Again, we do not get a lifetime warranty, regulatory markings, or similar. Still, it is cheap, but not that cheap. Class-leading pricing of the 8+1 Realtek solution is usually sub $80. This is one to perhaps add to the list to look at, but if it is not on sale, others probably will be.
This is not a switch we would pay a premium for, but it worked, and it was new and different, so it felt interesting. That is really part of this series which is to look at lower-cost switches that bring 2.5GbE to much lower price points.
Small, cheap, and fanless make this a useful tool. This is not the highest-quality switch on the market by any means, but it is also not trying to be. Instead, this is really a switch competing on pricing.
