This Senao SA9832v2 is an Intel Amston Lake-Powered Cloud SASE Gateway

While checking out Senao’s booth at Computex 2026 and spotting their Xeon 6-based SmartNIC/DPU, we also happened across a smaller but neat networking box for business use. Senao is rolling out a new secure access service edge (SASE) gateway, the SA9832v2, which they were demonstrating at the show.

As with SASE hardware in general, the SA9832v2 is intended to be a jack-of-all-trades gateway, offering network firewalling, filtering/inspection, VPN connectivity, and more in a single box. The idea is serving as both a networking appliance and a security appliance. The company also offers a significant lineup of SASE gateways, and the SA9832v2 is their newest and most powerful model, offering higher system performance and greater networking bandwidth than past models.

Despite the “v2” moniker, we could not find a SA9832v1. Rather, this is functionally a wired-only version of their wired+wireless SA9820 gateway, which was introduced a couple of years back. What it loses in wireless capabilities, it gains in faster wired Ethernet support.

At the heart of the SA9832v2 is Intel’s Atom X7809C processor, which is part of the company’s Amston Lake platform. This chip family rarely gets much attention due to its target market of embedded devices. In regard to architecture, the chip is essentially the embedded equivalent of the Alder Lake-N series, which we have seen pop up in numerous networking appliances. Consequently, the X7809 is equipped with 8 Gracemont CPU cores, with a peak clock speed of 3.6GHz and a TDP of 25 Watts. The chip also comes with an iGPU, though it is not used in Senao’s appliances. Instead, it is Amston Lake’s 9 PCIe Gen3 lanes that are generally the next most useful feature for a product such as a SASE gateway.

Senao has the SoC paired with 16GB of LPDDR5 memory, which in 2026 may as well be a small luxury for an embedded device.

That Intel SoC, in turn, powers a relatively powerful set of Ethernet ports. Whereas the current SA9820 offers a 2x 1GbE + 2x 2.5GbE + 2x SFP+ configuration, the wired-only SA9832v2 upgrades those copper Ethernet ports to 2.5Gb across the board, adding a couple more for good measure, resulting in a 6x 2.5GbE + 2x SFP+ configuration. As a result, the newer SA9832v2 offers significantly more wired Ethernet bandwidth.

A quick look at the front of the system shows it also features a pair of USB 3 ports. A console connector is here as well in the form of a USB Mini-B connection.

Meanwhile, in the rear, we find a pair of fan outlets. The system does not have an internal PSU, relying on an external power adapter instead, so all of the cooling is solely for the SoC and associated hardware inside.

On the whole, the SA9832v2 platform appears very similar to the SA9820. With Senao basing both boxes around the same Intel Atom X7809C processor and form factor, the SA9832v2 is for all practical purposes a wired-only (and presumably cheaper) version of the box for environments that specifically do not need wireless connectivity.

Final Words

While edge computing is not quite the buzzword it normally is as Computex, the need for hardware is still there. With the rise of dedicated cybersecurity-analyzing AI models, the need for strong edge security is greater than ever. So Senso’s Amston Lake-powered SD-WAN box is arriving at a good time for both the company and its customers.
