ASUS VS320D-RS26 26-Bay Active-Active Storage Server
At first, we walked by the ASUS VS320D-RS26. It looked like a standard 2U server. Then we took a second look.
Turning the server around, we see this is actually a specialized storage server. It is an active-active SAS design. Each node has four onboard SFP+ ports for 10GbE, a management port, and then two external SAS expansion ports. You can hook additional disk shelves up to this and use it as an active-active controller box.
On each side we get power supplies.
After a bit of asking, we were allowed to open the server up. This is a Xeon D design with four DIMM slots.
You can also see the headers for the custom expansion modules. Overall, this was pretty neat. It is also a low power system. The next one, uses much more power.
ASUS RS920Q-E12-RS16 A 2U 4-Node Intel Xeon 6 Liquid Cooled Server for up to 500W TDP CPUs
The ASUS RS920Q-E12-RS16 is a 2U 4-node (2U4N) server that looks a little bit different with four power inputs on the front.
The reason for this is that it can handle over 4kW of CPUs in the 2U server. Here we can see 12-channel DDR5 memory next to a Granite Rapids-AP socket and liquid cooling blocks on top.
The rear of the chassis has the expansion card slots and the routing for the liquid cooling tubes.
Each of the nodes has onboard networking and a low profile expansion card slot free on the liquid cooled version and on the air cooled version for lower power CPUs there is a second low profile card slot available.
Next, we have another unique 2U4N platform and AI server.
