ASUS ESC8000A-E13P External Hardware Overview (Rear)
Continuing our external overview, at the rear of the system, we can see the major focus.

First, however, we should start with the power supplies.

Here we get four 3.2kW power supplies. We have seen other PCIe systems with smaller power supplies, but those typically are for slightly smaller configurations.

On the back, next to the power supplies, we have our rear management port, a USB 3 port, and two 10Gbase-T ports from the Intel X710-AT2 NIC onboard. This server does not have a display output in the rear so it is meant to be only managed from the front where the networking is on the rear.

Aside from those two sections, there are three more, and perhaps the high-value ones. The big one is the 8x double-width PCIe GPU slots. Here we have eight NVIDIA L40S GPUs. There is another single-width PCIe slot that can be used for a NIC.

On the bottom left, we have two slots also for NICs.

These are on a carrier that can pop out for service.

The center section has another one of these NIC cages.

Next, let us get inside the system.
I like that this one’s got the PCIe switches better because it’s got more slots for NICs. I’m not totally behind just having 32 Gen 5.0 lanes back to the CPU.
There is a flaw in the block diagram, the DIMMs run from the PCIe switches in stead of the CPU’s.
I assume this is not a CXL solution (12 DIMMs through 32 lanes PCIe Gen5) ;-)
