ASRock Rack EPC621D4I-2M Remote Management
The ASRock Rack EPC621D4I-2M uses an Aspeed AST2500 chip to provide IPMI functions over HTML5 interface.
Default login information is as follows:
- Username: admin
- Password: admin
After logging in, we see system information and IPMI options along the left side.
We will continue on with IPMI screens.
Here one can see that ASRock is using a MegaRAC SP-X package that is the company’s newer offering. We like this new firmware as it offers a few new features including a HTML5 iKVM capability as well as a more mobile-friendly UI.
ASRock Rack provides iKVM functionality for remote management with their motherboards while competitors like Dell EMC, HPE, and Lenovo charge for this feature. Remove iKVM is one of the number one most useful troubleshooting tools and is a high-value inclusion here.
ASRock Rack EPC621D4I-2M Motherboard BIOS
The ASRock Rack Remote management solution provides the remote administrator with the information they need to manage servers far away from the home office. From the Remote Control Tab, one can launch KVM and directly control the server, including the BIOS. The ASRock EPC621D4I-2M uses a standard AMI (Aptio) BIOS.
As we scan through a few BIOS screens, this is a very standard interface for this class of product. Here are a few sample screenshots:
For those that are accustomed to using this type of server, the BIOS here will seem extremely familiar. The ability to remotely flip settings and diagnose issues at this level, as a feature included with the platform instead of as an add-on, is a great feature.
Next, let’s take a quick look at the ASRock Rack EPC621D4I-2M motherboard specifications.
Pls review ASRock Rack D2143D4I2-2T or Supermicro Edge Computing/Gateway lineup like SuperServer E403-9D-8CN-FN13TP with X11SDW-8C-TP13F.
“We wanted to get this review complete instead of waiting for some of the higher end SKUs like the Intel Xeon Platinum 8280 and Platinum 8276L CPUs available”
while all of my skylake-sp supports UDIMM, my Cascade-Lake-SP don’t support UDIMM.
in theory this can’t work…
aus dem ASRock Rack PDF(EPC621D4I-2M – EPC621D6I)
“4 DIMM slots, Supports Quad Channel DDR4 2993/2666/2400 ECC SO R DIMM, ECC SO DIMM, and non-ECC SO DIMM (Max. 64GB)”
Es gibt SO R DIMM ????? wo ?
Hello Patrick,
There is some confusion regarding the ILM of this socket. You mention that it is square and even reference the Dynatron B13. the folks from ASRock Rack and Dynatron were saying that it was a narrow ILM. Can you confirm which type that MB uses?
Thanks,
jp
I will send William a note but I think it is narrow.
thanks. I also noticed in one of the pics of the bottom that it is stamped as narrow.
Small but performance is powerful motherboard for itx board
just finished a build using this mb. it is for a specific device that is used for traffic generation and focused on low noise and sff. see link below for pics:
