MokerLink 2G05110GS is another low-cost, fanless switch pushing 2.5GbE networking to new affordability brackets. This new 5-port 2.5GbE and 1-port SFP+ 10GbE switch generally sells on Amazon for $65-75 so we wanted to give it a try. If you saw our earlier Sodola SL-SWTG015AS 5-port 2.5GbE 1-port 10GbE switch review the short version of this is that it is very similar.
MokerLink 2G05110GS Overview
We featured this video in our September 2023 mini-round-up of fanless 2.5GbE switches that you can find here:
We have also added this switch to the Ultimate Cheap Fanless 2.5GbE Switch Buyer’s Guide where we have now listed 32 models and we already have 5 more switches tested, but not on that list. Bookmark that page to get the latest, we will like all of these reviews from that page.
This was a late addition to the recent round-up, but we wanted to cover the additional port configuration.
MokerLink 2G05110GS Hardware Overview
On the front of the switch, one can see four 2.5GbE ports and a SFP+ ports. Port 5 sits away from the first four ports slightly.
On the side, we get a QC sticker and a vent.
On the other side, we get another vent. This is a fanless switch so we expect vents.
The rear has a DC power input and a grounding point.
On the bottom, we get a label. We also get mounting holes so one can use two screws to mount the switch to a desk, wall, or elsewhere. There is a bit more here than some of the labeling laggards likeĀ YuanLey andĀ Davuaz.
Inside the switch, we can see the ports and a relatively simple design. This is very similar to the Sodola design as well.
Here is the internal overview of the switch which is relatively neat. One can see that there is a main switch chip then a small Realtek PHY for Port 5.
Still there is not much to the inside of this switch.
Next, let us get to performance and power consumption.
Will a SFP+ DAC work with the SFP+ on this switch?
