On this excellent (eggcellent?) Easter Sunday, I wanted to say congratulations to Mark, the winner of our recent NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GTC 2022 Giveaway. I got the sense that he was quite surprised that the Gleam app selected him as the winner. Mark was gracious enough to send some photos of his rig with the new card.

I think a lot of folks know that I generally do not like doing giveaways, but NVIDIA offered to sponsor a GeForce GTX 3080 Ti giveaway, and I know how the STH community has been coveting GPUs recently, so I agreed to this. It was quite fun to see Mark’s reaction:

Overall, it seems to be going to good use.
Today I got my RTX 3080 Ti from the @ServeTheHome and @NVIDIAGTC giveaway. Playing one of my favorite games, @Borderlands 3 on my @ASUSUSA 1440p 165hz monitor with G-Sync enabled is a whole new world of smooth!

Final Words
Overall, I think this may have slightly eroded my general dislike of doing giveaways. I think if we do it again, we may have some process differences. A YouTuber recently told me that he thinks it should only be open to registered users of the forum or YouTube subscribers before the actual giveaway goes live. I am not sure how I feel about that one. Still, I also just wanted to say thank you to NVIDIA for getting us the card to use and giving me the nudge to hold our first giveaway. Also, frankly to Mark because if he was more like a 1 of 10 level of excitement, it probably would have not pushed me to think about doing more in the future.
