Synolgoy NAS units are extremely popular. One of the best features of the Synology ecosystem is the company’s commitment to both bugfix and new feature releases on regular Diskstation Manager (DSM) releases. Synology has now released the latest version, Synology DSM 6.1 with a slew of new features. We have recently reviewed the Synology DS416j Surveillance Station with Amcrest 1080P Wi-Fi Pro/HD Cameras, the Synology DiskStation DS916+ and the Synology DiskStation DS216j and it is great to see that these units will be getting a significant feature upgrade months after their release.

Shared folder encryption: Encrypt pre-existing shared folders, including the homes folder, whenever you need. For higher security and convenience, you can now mount encrypted folders automatically using a physical USB flash drive without having to memorize encryption keys.

Seagate IronWolf Health Management (IHM): Synology has partnered with Seagate to exclusively bring Seagate’s IronWolf Health Management tool to NAS products.
